British Society for Heart Failure Bridging Strategy
The BSH are delighted to announce the development of our new bridging strategy. This strategy is designed to refine our vision, ambitions, and future plans, ensuring that the society operates smoothly and continues to support those suffering from, or at risk of, heart failure.
It will guide us through to 2025, by which time we aim to have a settled CEO who can build on this framework to further advance the society our work, in conjunction with the Trustees and wider membership.

British Society for Heart Failure Manifesto
In the light of the snap General Election scheduled for 4th July 2024, we are pleased to share with you the British Society for Heart Failure Manifesto which focuses on the 25in25 initiative and which has been shared with policymakers across the health landscape. We hope that the Manifesto will go some way to support our shared ambitions.
In brief, we ask for consideration of the following:
The British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) is calling on all political parties to:
Adopt, UK-wide, the 25in25 initiative[i], supported by 60+ healthcare organisations, which aims to reduce deaths due to heart failure by 25% in the first year of diagnosis within the next 25 years, saving 10,000 lives every year
Prioritise patient care by supporting clinicians across specialities and healthcare systems to work together to prevent avoidable heart failure deaths, making every contact count
Fund recruitment and retention of more heart failure specialist clinicians
Prioritise the heart failure training, education and upskilling of clinicians delivering HF care across specialities and healthcare landscapes, supported by the British Society for Heart Failure, to expedite diagnosis through better symptom recognition, earlier testing and collaboration
Direct funding into systematic case-finding of undetected heart failure through the 25in25 implementation programme which will lead to optimisation and equality of care for all those in communities who need it. #FindMe

Heart Health Survey
Edinburgh Napier University and Robert Gordon University are working with the James Lind Alliance to conduct a survey. The survey is looking into the most popular questions that patients, carers and clinical professionals have about digital technology and how it is used in heart disease and heart condition management and prevention. Those who need the research most should have a say in what is researched, this is your chance to have yours.
If you are a patient with a heart condition or heart disease, you care for someone who has a heart condition or heart disease, or you are a clinical professional whose work involves those with heart conditions or heart disease, then we ask you to please take a moment to complete this survey.
You can find our survey at Survey 1 - Digital Heart PSP (napier.ac.uk). Please take some time to fill it out and share it with those who may be interested. If you would like a paper copy, please contact the team at DigitalHeart@napier.ac.uk
